High Up on the terraza
Ignasi Terraza, Pierre Boussaguet, Victor Jones
HIGH UP on the TERRAZA – is the new release of the Ignasi Terraza trio, which includes two brilliant musicians in the rhythm section: Pierre Boussaguet on bass (one of the most demanded jazz bassists in Europe, who has recently played on the regular trio by Michelle Legrand) and Victor Jones (a true drummer legend, known for his collaborations with Stan Guets and Michel Petrucciani).
A collaborative trio that, even when they first met in the studio, seems to have been playing together for a long time. The repertoire includes four beautiful original Terrace, a Boussaguet calypso, two arrangements of popular Catalan songs and four standards: A virtuous tribute to Art Tatum made through Rodgers melody, “yuo took advantage of me”, a dialogue of piano and bass with the tune of “A flower is a lovesome thing” from “Strayhorn’s, a sophisticated arrangement (in tribute to the legendary Peterson trio) in” What is this thing call love “, and a version of” Time on my hand “That reminds us of the style and sound of that first Terrace album” Let me tell you something ” A creative recording full of swing that shows us a Terrace in full shape leading the trio with maturity and authority, presenting with mastery different stylistic records.
